This is my stud of a future husband. Nate and his dad, Steve ran the Thanksgiving Point Half Marathon last weekend. Nate's probably the only person I've ever met that doesn't train for a half marathon and can run it in under 2 hours. His dad did incredible too! Just over 2 hours with a bum knee. I'm so proud of them both :) I've thought about running another one, and then I saw how sore Nate was for the next couple days and decided against it. I think I'll try a mini-mini-triathlon this summer or in the fall. I'm not a very good swimmer, but I do like a challenge...
Have you met my creeper fiance? I'll give him a little slack. He was exhausted when we took this picture and I'm an albino woman... We're good for each other.
Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-30461511675041632422012-05-01T23:03:00.001-07:002012-05-01T23:03:40.959-07:00The countdown continues...Today marks 22 days until I am married to my best friend :)

My last final ever is tomorrow. So weird... growing up... graduating...

I get to see my hunny, my family, grandparents etc. on Saturday for graduation. I won't be going back to school in the fall... What am I going to do without my intramurals?? I'm going to have to join a soccer league so I can keep my sanity.

I played soccer outside tonight. Got some killer bruises as proof. I love playing.

Last little gem: while walking home from soccer, we saw a guy running up the Old Main Hill stairs...and juggling. I've lived for 23 years and have never seen something that cool in my life. That will be my new hobby when I get married. Right after that, we saw a lady walking her 5 ducks on the sidewalk. Logan is a little weird... but I still love it!

I love life right now :)Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-86139617101259513772012-04-27T10:27:00.002-07:002012-04-27T10:27:17.994-07:00Duh!I forgot the most important date:

May 24th, 2012: The day I am sealed to my handsome man for time and all eternity in the Draper Temple!

I love him so much and can't wait to marry him!!Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-50117614456115158682012-04-27T10:02:00.000-07:002012-04-27T10:02:56.791-07:00Graduation is finally here!I just turned in my last CFD project report EVER!

It still hasn't hit me yet. After five years of long nights in the lab, 20 hours of homework a week, projects, presentations, labs, programming, building, designing, studying, praying, and stressing, I'm actually going to graduate. I have officially become a grown-up. I'm graduating, starting a job, and getting married within this next month. Talk about killing THREE birds with one stone. I'm going to have to start getting into some fun hobbies now that I have an extra 20 hours a week.

I've decided that I want to become a good cook, so my husband will always be happy after dinner :) Good food has never been a huge priority to me (weird right?) because I go home basically every weekend to my mother's amazing cooking. Pretty soon, it's going to be MY amazing cooking (someday when I've been married for at least 5 years). I'd also like to get better at the guitar now that I have time to practice. I could even become a quirky, crafty wife and let Pinterest run my life and style. NO! I don't want to do that. It's not my thing.. Maybe I'll start doing it when we have a house. I won't worry about that now.

So here's the schedule for the next month or so...

This weekend: Get invites sent to all our lovely people- watch my cute fiance run a half marathon-have a bridal shower put on my my new in-laws :)- spend time with my favorite person and family

Wednesday, May 2nd: Last Final of my entire life ( unless I decide to go back to school and get a masters...)

Friday, May 4th: Graduation Openhouse
Saturday, May 5th: Graduation Ceremony (My family, Nate's family are coming up to celebrate!)
Move home sometime that week

Monday, May 7th: I start my internship training at Rio Tinto. I'm super excited to work for them. I know I won't be stuck in an office all summer like I was last year, and I'll get to go on job sites and use my degree :)

Tuesday, May 8th: My roommate and best friend is getting married!

May 11th: Moving into our apartment. Also going to Bear Lake to practice for concrete canoe competition in June.

May 19th: I take my endowments out :)

Ok this is way to long, and I didn't even put pictures in this one. I'll get it next time you 5 followers. Stay tuned!Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-56371422382516360872012-04-17T21:55:00.001-07:002012-04-17T21:55:53.948-07:00I can't believe it's almost here! 36 days!I get to marry my best friend in 36 days! That means I won't have to only see him on the weekends. No more driving from Logan to South Jordan almost every weekend. (it is ridiculously exhausting and I feel bad because I never get to see my roommates). I can't believe I'm going to be Mrs. Jackson and start that new chapter in my life.
I also graduate in two weeks! I never thought the day would come... I just planned on going to school forever. It's almost surreal to think how close I am from that diploma :). Once I graduate I have one day to get ready for my internship at Rio Tinto! I get to wear steel boots and a hard hat for work and I just want to start working!

Here is a preview of what our invites look like-ish: enjoy!<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-31086877844860163202012-02-23T21:50:00.005-08:002012-02-23T22:44:31.073-08:00The Proposal Story...All 5 followers of mine probably know that I'm engaged to the most wonderful man alive! :)
There is a short version, you just have to scroll down more.

Here's the story (Lauren's side).

The weekend before: Feb 10th

The week before we got engaged we had a pre-Valentines Day dinner and a magician (I believe it was called "Evening of Elegance and Magic"). We went with his cousin Trevor and girlfriend Andrea to the American West Heritage Center and had a really great time. Nate and I have talked about marriage a lot, so before he left, I asked him if we could go ring shopping soon. He said "Oh I don't know if I'm ready for that...Maybe we could go Monday because it's a holiday." Little did I know he had a ring already picked out. That sneaky boy! Anyways, I was coming home to South Jordan Wednesday the 15th because I had an eye appointment the next morning in Sandy. Knowing this, he told me, "I get you Thursday". I knew we'd be going on our actual Valentines Day date, where we would exchange gifts (I made him a deck of cards with 104 things I loved about him) and just enjoy being with each other. He asked me where I'd like to go for dinner that night, emphasizing that I could go anywhere I wanted. I picked Red Lobster just because I knew it was his favorite place and there was always deals going on there. The date was decided: we would go to Red Lobster at 4:30, indoor rock climbing after that, and then swing by and see Madelyn's concerto night once our arms felt like they were going to fall off.

Thursday, Feb 16th 4:00 p.m.

Nate told me that we wouldn't be coming back to change into climbing stuff after dinner, so he told me to pack some cute climbing clothes. That's when I knew he was acting different, because normally he doesn't care what I wear climbing, since we've been twice together...Once I had my stuff packed, we headed for Red Lobster in Murray. We got drinks and really expensive meals. I just thought, it's Valentine's Day so we're going to splurge a little. Nate was so hot during dinner (He was nervous and excited) and I asked him if he needed to go outside for a minute to cool down.

During our dating life, we asked each other how ready we were to get married to each other. Mine was always higher. The question was brought up tonight and even though I was 100% ready to marry him, I wasn't sure he was, because he was always telling me that we would be getting married July or August. So I said 90%, but he eventually got 100% out of me. I'm kind of a push over.

6:10 p.m.

We finished with dinner and went to his grandparent's house to change into climbing gear. Neither of us brought jackets which was really stupid...It was cold. Once dressed, we headed on the freeway to go to Momentum climbing gym off of 10600 S. by the mall. He got off clear at 7200 S. because "there was so much traffic", and then proceeded to go the complete opposite direction further away from Momentum. We went past Gardner Village and onto 2700 W. until we got 10600 S. I had an idea that he had some sort of a surprise for me, because if any of you know Nate, he hates going slow. I told him I wanted to pay for climbing because he bought dinner, but he said that he had it taken care of already.

SKIP TO HERE FOR THE SHORT VERSION!!!!

6:25 p.m.

We got to Momentum Climbing Gym and Nate went up to the guy and said, "I'm Nate. I talked to you earlier." The guy took his card and we were in. I was so excited to go because I hadn't gone in forever. We walk to the north side of the gym and Nate stops in front of the easiest climb possible and tells me to climb it. I knew I hadn't been for a long time, but come on, I could have done that easy! So I told him to go and I'd belay him. I even made him put on my dad's climbing shoes. He really wanted me to go first so I get all hooked up, and he says, "Wait! I have to go the bathroom!" So he goes over there, but I watched him to make sure that's really where he went, because I knew something was weird. He comes back and I climb to the top, and at the top is a Ring Pop taped up there. I started to get excited and confused and asked him, "Is that for me?". He said, "No, that one's from my brother, but if you want the real one you're going to have to come down!" Instantly, my legs started shaking, because I wasn't sure I had heard him correctly, but I though I had. He kept looking over the side and letting me down ridiculously slow, so I swung over the side to see what he was looking at. The first thing I thought was, "Wow. Everyone's here". My family, Nate's family, and some of Nate's extended family was all there. Brad had a bunch of roses in his hand. I can't even believe what's going on! I finally get down after forever, and Nate gets down on one knee and says, "Will you accept me for my strengths and weaknesses and marry me?". I was so shocked, but of course I said yes!!! We were both shaking so bad he could hardly get the ring on my finger and we were engaged!!

I'm so excited to marry my best friend!! (as my dad calls it...)I found out about the Big A** show through listening to the X96 radio station. I bought tickets right after I had heard about it. My wonderful boyfriend came with me along with my sis and her friend. It was a blast! We saw Switchfoot, Anberlin, Neon Trees (by far the best band that we saw?), and Panic at the Disco (the lead singer got malaria, so the other singers pitched in to help). Pictures are more fun than words so here you go:

Right when we arrived, it was starting to rain = Lauren looks like a wet dog :)

Lead singer of Switchfoot. I'm not worried because there's maybe 5 people that read this blog haha.

So going back clear to November 24th! Nate came up for Homecoming weekend :) He got to Logan Friday night and we went on a triple date with his cousin Trevor, and Amanda (my roomie) and Matt (her beau). We started off clear out by the Wal-Mart in Providence. The goal was to flip a coin, and if it was heads, you turned right and if it was tails, you turned left at a stop sign or stop light. The goal was to get to Chilis in less than 30 minutes and the loser paid for everyone's dinner. We could only flip this coin. We started off going in circles, and I tried so hard to be honest each time. Sometimes when Nate would say, "Ok we NEED a tails on this one" magically it would happen... (I didn't cheat... maybe). Anyways, we were last to the arrive at Chilis and I was so nervous that Nate would have to pay... but all the boys were nice to him and he only paid for me :)

Miniature golfing with my date. So close...I'm in the beautiful city of Chicago for Annual Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Conference!! I'm so excited! What could be better? I'm missing school, and I don't have to do any homework for the rest of the week. I miss Nate, but I'm seeing him next week :)

The trip here started out as a good one. We flew from Salt Lake to Minneapolis and I sat by the coolest woman. People who know me know that I'm a very friendly person especially with strangers, so naturally I asked her where she was from and where she was headed. She said, "I'm going to go see my boo, you know girl? He's a football player up in Wisconson" She busted out her sweet iPad2 and showed me a picture of him. "He's fine right?" She's dating a Green Bay Packer! Crazy huh? The more I got to know her, the cooler she became. She is a legit model and knows all these famous people. She told me she's been modeling since she was 18 and she's traveled all over the world for her job. "I tried bein' married for six years, but he was the wrong guy for me." She knows tons of famous people. Once again, busted out the iPad2 and showed me pictures of her modeling and a bunch of pictures of her with famous people like Nelly and Little Jon and Sean Paul. I just kept thinking to myself, her life is SO much different than mine is. I'm just this geeky Mormon and she has people make her look stunning every day. I've never met anyone like her in my life. It was such a fun plane ride. Oh, one more thing that I can think of right now. I felt really cheap sitting next to her with my "Engineers are Sexy" shirt and my worn out jeans. She had to have been wearing $300 jeans at least, and she was wearing a head wrap thing. She looked legit. I can't imagine living that kind of lifestyle. Having people buy you extremely nice things, having your own body guard and driver, staying in a mansion in Africa, going to Paris, Germany, etc...
Even though she's extremely cool and I was a little star struck without really knowing her, I'm still grateful to be going to school and living in Utah, and dating the most fantastic man ever :)

Tomorrow is workshops and more workshops until I pass out from fatigue. More updates tomorrow!!Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-46197372980780490752011-09-19T17:38:00.000-07:002011-09-19T18:17:08.343-07:00Get Dirrrrty!This weekend was a blast! Friday was Madelyn's birthday. She turned 18! Look out! Now she's old enough to buy dry ice! I didn't see much of her because she went on a date :) I on the other hand had to go pick up our packets for the race on Saturday. It was pouring the whole drive home. I went to Nate's house looking like a wet dog, but he didn't care. He was just excited to see me :) I said hi to his family and then we went to my house for dinner and my family's company. He had two tests on Monday, so we decided to have a study party at his house with his cousin, Amy. I brought my homework over and tried to work on it, but all of us were having a hard time focusing. I was so tired so after a while I fell asleep on Nate while he was talking to Kyle about cars (can you blame me for falling asleep?)

Saturday was the Dirty Dash in Soldier Hollow! Let me say something, this is the best way to get a workout in! The Dirty Dash is a 10K run in a whole bunch of mud and nastyness! We climbed over walls, crawled through barrels and trudged through swampy smelly mud water, and I found mud in places I didn't know I had. Here are some pics:

Before: (Actually three minutes before the race started...we were running late)

Almost done! I just have to work really hard this week because this weekend is homecoming week at USU and Nate's coming up for the dance!! I was kind of bummed because I wasn't going to see Nate this weekend (I know it's been 4 whole days since the last time I saw him) because I was planning on studying for the GRE and doing homework with some classmates. I was asking Emily what her plans were for Friday, and she told me she had to go to Salt Lake for a scholarship dinner, and she was taking Josh. I was like, WHAT?? you're going to Salt Lake? I want to go with you and then you guys can meet Nate! So as they were in their dinner, I met up with Nate and we went to the Gateway. We actually ran into Megan's friend Heather and decided to eat with them at Z Tejas. Heather told me Megs was actually coming so we stayed and surprised her when she sat down :) It was great to see her and even better being with my cute boy :)

Here's a picture of us at the restaurant. Pay no attention to the Asian stunt-double pretending to be me. She just gets really squinty-eyed the happier she is :)

Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-37227070697497575332011-08-30T06:39:00.000-07:002011-08-30T07:52:03.379-07:00Life as I know it...This is Nate :) We've been dating for a little over 2 months (2 months and 6 days, but who's counting?)

We met at a singles ward activity over the summer and have been together basically every day during the summer, give or take a week or two for family vacations. He is a great guy and I miss him a lot now that I'm up in Logan for the final year and he's home going to SLCC and working.

I've had a ton of fun with him during these past two months. We've had kind of a weird summer together and more hospital dates then I would have liked to have.

During the beginning of July, Mads went in the hospital for open heart surgery and due to recovery problems, stayed there for the entire month of July. So for all of that month, I would go to work and then go to the hospital until 9 or 10 pm and then go home and hang out with Nate for like an hour or so and then go to bed and start all over again. I think Nate came up at least 4 times and I loved it!

Then in August, his twin brother Brad went in for Scoliosis surgery. Brad has Cerebral Palsey so after the surgery, he ended up going to South Davis Hospital in Bountiful, and after a long three weeks, he finally came home! Everyone was excited!

I love being around Nate. He makes me a better person and his family is just as awesome. I'm going home this weekend for Labor day to see my family and him :)

I'm going to try and update more often.
Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-25911197868860891442011-03-27T15:50:00.000-07:002011-03-27T20:14:46.450-07:00Can YOU win it in a minute?Last night was one of the most fun and unique group dates I've ever been on! My date picked me up and we went to his buddy Preston's house, where his roommates had decorated their apartment especially for us. There were pictures of the temple and MormonAds about celestial marriage right by the dinner table. On the table there were three pamphlets including one entitled: "The purpose of life". There were a couple more on celestial purity. It was pretty funny :) For dinner, we ate Hawaiian Haystacks which tasted amazing!!

One of Preston's roommates was playing guitar at Fredricos for the night, so after dinner, we went and watched him play while playing Uno at the same time. He did a big Jason Mraz tribute, so I really liked it. I also saw one of my favorite people in the world there, Andrea. She always makes me happy :)

Once the concert was over, we headed back to Preston's apartment to play "Minute to Win It!". I've only seen that show once and thought it was pretty entertaining to watch. Let me tell you, it's WAY more fun to actually play! Jake and I were competing against two other couples. The girls started out first by picking "tic tac toe". The game went as follows: 9 cups were set up on the table in a box-like fashion, and each of the girls had one minute to get a three in a row, like tic tac toe. I went last and ended up smoking the two girls, I got three in a row in 12 seconds! It was so fun!

The boys were next.
Their challenge was called "shot glass" or something like that. There were 3 tall skinny prom glasses with a diameter big enough for a ping pong ball to fit through. The challenge was to take a tape measure from five feet away, put the ping pong ball on the top, and slide it down the tape and place it in each of these glasses in one minute. Jake was the only one of the guys to succeed!! :) That's what you get when you have two engineers on one team. ;)

Girls turn:
We'll call this game "ping pong launch" even though I'm pretty sure that's not what it's called. The object of this challenge was to get in at least 3 ping pong balls into a laundry basket on the other side of the room by launching them with a towel if that makes any sense. It was kind of like when you play water balloon catch and toss with a towel, but the boys were holding down two corners of the towel. I'll try and show you...

Me and the boys< laundry basket and Jake throwing me balls.
(I'm the O with arms throwing the towel)
_o __
O _l - - - - - - - - - - - -l__l O
o

Needless to say, I was the only girl to do this in under a minute as well :)

The boys next challenge was called "candy elevator" They had to put string attached to two pencils glued together behind their ears and pull the gum on the "elevator" up to their mouth and eat it in a minute. Jake did it the fastest, but he missed his mouth and dropped it so we were disqualified :( I'll try and draw another picture with my keyboard...

Ok I tried drawing a picture of him doing it, but blogger wouldn't have it. So you're just going to have to use your imagination... sorry :(

My last challenge was pretty hilarious and I'm glad that no one recorded it... 5 ping pong balls were placed into an empty tissue box and that was attached to a belt. I put that belt on so that the tissue box was behind me, and my job was to shake out the balls in one minute. I think I did it in 58 seconds...I was tired after that too. You try and twist and jump up and down for a minute straight! I'm not going to attempt to draw it. I'm sure you get the jist of it. Also I'm sure you're sick of reading this. I'm sick of typing it. Last challenge ahead.

The last challenge was for the boys. They needed to bend down and grab paper bags of various heights with their mouths and place them on the table. Alas, both Jake and I don't come close to touching our toes, so we lost. I still had a blast and would totally do it again :)Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-26021561459140136052011-03-20T13:43:00.000-07:002011-03-20T14:05:23.776-07:00Look at the last post, now back to this one, now back to that one, now back to THIS ONE!Ok now I can talk about my awesome weekend!

On Thursday, I went and ate real sushi for the first time in my life. I was pleasantly surprised on how good it actually was! I'm definitely going back there again soon!

Friday night was a TON of fun! I went with my friend to his mission companions house for a little party. This guy's house is HUGE! They had every game you could think of: ping pong, air hockey, fooseball, poker table, you name it, they had it! J and I played air hockey and fooseball. We just won't say who won... but his name started with a J :)

After that, I invited people over to Lani's annual Green Party in honor of St. Patrick. She always throws a great party, with so many decorations, and yummy chocolate fondue :) Here are a few pics from the night. There is not one of us that can be serious in any picture... That's why I love these guys :) I can't wait to room with them!!

Josh thinks he's so buff...
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7YAbEBtvMTEi1BPBoX0fsSLp-Qz78cuxeCsUskwsY_VBpMdLsigWuwpUzFrhyXaJJia-KV_2yqIWCceP3M2J7WHUTt9svtDf1866YolRT5ZHtqC3qfbDcDTE22G9sZNCkIKkGkTIuMx8/s320/IMG_2016.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586268332829015458" />

One of their many attempts to take a decent picture... never ended up getting one.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn3pMsP_R4oDT05sBuFAereYHsRrHK9KyoW2F5N2yUmiEweyH62AT-NmzuYZ9Fd2C1ZTFnb9QAc87ANccmFAwZOm5OCtECkYHHX6X-TcHvpZ_rSv9-9iQuizJl5kc0hj_ojp9ryza3tPk/s320/IMG_2006.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586268324790580242" />

We are two good looking people... haha!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgRkbUEC97clMasqW0h4tnaN3JLfdNlBGD2H4f524kfJZm1BvRUbDmUmvyDegDS4RtdSPZunKTZU8v96P4de2gXn8SL2oVHJn3ddPE_pOCTv3hNZbVsB_nmUOI04nzkR5-R52Ot7jq3RI/s320/IMG_2004.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586268320083546354" />

Jake sat on three pillows to "appear" taller than everyone else
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisMw2yvD6vLlIMsaak9wJOymA-C4zOvuaJ_owLrzOGs4J63DxuPS6PLZelDHkuIYyF3fMoWuc6YtwQ9-DoMmn-29YLiQINMubiXs_0vmEc4n__8WIsZ2AlK-UPz04gMzJSrkAN12zfGCE/s320/IMG_2002.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586268310015733074" />

I told you there is not one normal picture of any of us...
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN6YDPX1gABamP9NXyNS_zTdjuYFw76h0UWsQB86cNOp6lnYIJQAvfQesagRVr1p-hIdOzYsrvbg0-qT9opA43GVwcrnN-avx4I5bzleK-jViYpDTviCuRElL6WzrCHkDNzPTdH6HWSPw/s320/IMG_1998.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586268307617126802" />

Two of my favorite people in the whole world: Matt (Patt Metersen) and Lani :)

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJI0XDLrh7ztH5tg7kaxacRmmssItY1JF7n_5jdUoNzACE5xSVp-Z0jJhu_mcVI3t8mzEaEb-Zc8XbtcMZycJFzMI4sqlxe4sOrKAbLIt0o3YHLorbI11DL003e4HE0Sndxk4DjqioRho/s320/IMG_2018.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586270164509754418" />

That was Friday. Now for some pictures:

Flash on:
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5MmGuTakIO1ojRzuiYj1tgqp7dycjIQ6aXVgJkmXIPFPIT5cqG01ZJ1EcfzZpbroZdK6lgjT1XxXgvOWrLqDYRCmQ3JfXC3OAV75J5J2w92w-gngww7OK-TFoSrr5wigFZNW8gIvINzk/s320/IMG_2021.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586270182366667394" />

No flash:
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgx4i-8BCfZ7ePjn2_KGabAeq-FSRrIo8ECwsJTjZaA2YYWxmAe76yG2vkJ68Mlr7BGKFWpyNZddu_16hQ1IEtiEBlPzmoV735yKUTt793xxwgqtFyHyCbt34si-DKb5j48JsnxwKiwIIA/s320/IMG_2020.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586270176402720850" />Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-48892721255091510292011-03-20T13:01:00.000-07:002011-03-20T13:42:59.311-07:00Palm Springs!<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim8X3kypIdtGo1hAepdby6j-X3TcGShkKjPwPeXHxZOqCNTnVxUmrRmtu20w0qLdR5IrP9u7Y4t_kCwSS_rPGzA4qC4g8phNL4K3RCRHHdr2drSG5pH5QKXpPw2X-Bn5E6325Jv68WjW8/s320/IMG_1981.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586265217248084962" />

I always love going to SWE conference! It's a great way to network, socialize, and get out of freezing Logan for a while. In the previous post I mentioned that we took a bus for 12 hours to get there, but once we got there it was really fun.

We got there around 7 p.m. and decided to look around for something to do after checking into our hotel. We discovered that it was the fair or something because there everyone and their dogs literally were there! I swear that every person we saw had a dog, or dogs were riding in strollers. Those Californians loved their dogs. The fair had tons of food, and vendors selling jewelry and art pieces. It had singers trying to earn money and one artist would create his masterpieces right on the spot using spray paint. It was incredible! I'll speak for Erin and Emily when i say this, but the glass fireplaces were probably my favorite part:

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj24co9zdKrt7aW-v9DdjbXHs3ja6Kjuqpo5QcFv60OWHArI7m1km2wHn1URHa1yotWidz5ccfxOPc75Miw3zev-SrjgYkz8e-tRmOe0S4tMZKrvrjzxAKXEXHrUUU-0DQxRlwXqsVQdxY/s320/IMG_1985.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586258946994579634" />

Then we ate some frozen yogurt at this wonderful place:

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_mIi3Y9rkn8xHi-6ccpPlMiUmAjsOLyPyug6PWPL_9C96BI44GP3OURYRcLhEi_i0oqWqwL2eDqD88pTd03yHE0cFJG0Mzl5k8shr83U7vDFYtP1GbNC2bKlFqbLwzTzNVf8c_inGkf0/s320/IMG_1990.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586258951463767922" />

The next day, we went on a 3 hour hike with most of our group. We climbed little hills and just soaked up all the sun we could. When we got back, we hit the pool for a good 3-4 hours and got mildly burnt. That night we had the opening social with the other sections in our region. We saw girls from the U, BYU, CalPoli, Weber, and a couple more. It was fun because the party was right by the pool! We ate food and socialized with the other sections. That night, we "watched" exercise videos that were free in our hotel because we were too full to move!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtDJc-ebWqJZikcCHNDRz47_Zf_XRCw5z4vEZRPCprAFDQCVEYRMO78WPFc3nQsW4I1ZkbhhAwd2R4_wPtRcwzcr52l6IpuCRj7QsiZClDldUI32g4r9422KGlOYLmJjDrBoDsMZ7HO5s/s320/IMG_1991.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586261155818631170" />
This is us with Lucy from "I Love Lucy" She's not real, only just a statue. This is a piece of 4 layer thick chocolate cake along with his friend german chocolate cheescake :) SO YUMMY!

Saturday was the actual conference. We woke up early for a fancy breakfast and keynote speaker that inspired all of us to take chances and to not be afraid of failure. After breakfast, the rest of the day consisted of multiple workshops and speakers. Then we had lunch and another speaker. After lunch, we went and got our swag at the Career Fair and then spent an hour at the pool lovin' life. That night we had dinner (I got the Salmon) and another speaker. It was great, but I was ready to get out of my business clothes, and into my swimsuit to go to the hot tub, which is what we did after dinner.

Sunday, we walked 2 miles to go to church in the sun, and then the members there shuttled us back to our hotel. I love that church is the same everywhere you go :) We got back on the bus and headed home at 12:30 p.m. We didn't get home until 4 a.m. on Monday morning!!! It was the longest bus ride of my life... I'm glad I went, but I'm more glad that the week after was spring break!!Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-56518659478059409622011-03-20T12:47:00.000-07:002011-03-20T13:01:21.848-07:00The Longest Three Days of my life...Weekends are my favorite :)

I need to back up because it's been a while. I'll start with my 3rd regional SWE (Society of Women Engineers) conference held this year in warm and sunny Palm Springs, California. We left on Thursday morning at five a.m. on March 3rd on a bus for 12 hours to get there. Before I talk about that, I need to back up again. The three days before we left was one of the hardest three days of my life. On Monday, I had a HUGE Composites program due at 4 p.m. Those who know my engineering life know that I am not a very good programmer, so it takes me like 3 times longer to finish the same program as another person. I'd been working on it all weekend, and put at least 15 or more hours into it. Monday came, and it still wasn't done, so I skipped all my classes and finished it at 3 p.m. I was so exhausted after that. Luckily my awesome friend Amanda helped me find the problem with my program and fixed it. I owe her big time!

After I turned that in, I had a huge design presentation due on Tuesday at 1 p.m. My team presented and then sat through 4 more hours of other design presentations! It was such a long day. After that I had a HUGE 10% of my grade project for Instrumentation due that night at midnight. My entire class was in the lab that night, and I turned my project in at 11:52 p.m.

After THAT I had to go home and pack because we were leaving at 5 a.m. However, I had another assignment that I had to get done before I left, so I stayed up all night working on that assignment and making a scrapbook page for a SWE competition. I only got 1 hour of sleep that night, but managed to sleep for like 8 on the bus. To shorten these posts, I will terminate this one and talk about SWE conference on the next post. :)Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-66890502624130235032011-02-26T08:39:00.000-08:002011-02-26T08:48:01.663-08:00Just because I don't want to do homework...A week or so ago, my dad sent me this email that I will display in one moment. Usually chain emails are really dumb, for real! But this one had me laughing for a good 10 minutes straight. So for your entertainment and pleasure:

WE ALL LOVED HIM,

Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community.

The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies and Captain Crunch.

The grave site was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Born and bread in Minnesota , Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes.

Despite being a little flaky at times, he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions.

Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, three children: John Dough, Jane Dough and Dosey Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart.

The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-61364108715685521812011-02-26T01:28:00.000-08:002011-02-26T01:43:01.000-08:00Oh when you're goin' on a date, you put on a shirt, and you drive...to the DAAATE!Based on the title of this post I obviously went on a date tonight. But I put on more than a shirt. I put on my coat because we went to a USU hockey game. Also it has been snowing ALL day today, and tonight wasn't any different. I'm pretty sure I couldn't feel my toes the entire time but I still had fun. USU played Texas A & M, who are also the Aggies. We had a small cheering crowd that would cheer, "Let's go Aggies!" I hope they weren't cheering for the other team because that would be rather foolish. We beat them 8-0 anyways. During the game, I almost got hit with a speeding hockey puck that flew over the glass and grazed my hair. It was kind of intense. It would have been cool to get a black eye from it, but seeing as I have an engineering conference in less than a week where you have to look really nice, I'm glad I ducked.
After the game, we drove through the blizzard to a place called zeppes, and Italian ice/custard shop in Providence. We got a gelata and let me tell you it was heaven in a cup! I highly recommend anyone in the cache valley area to at least try it.
After much slipping and sliding on the road, we made it back to my place, where my date thought it would be funny to throw me in 1.5 feet of snow. It was funny for about 10 seconds, and then it was on. After a few minutes, we were both covered and freezing, so we went inside and drank some hot chocolate. I roasted his mug, so he couldn't drink it for like 5 minutes. Mine was just right... oops. It was a great date and I hope to see him in the future :)Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-84634349961617256662009-01-12T13:48:00.000-08:002009-01-12T13:58:45.569-08:00Failing miserably at this...I can't ever seem to catch up with the blogging. Plus it takes too much time. So I'm bagging the whole, "new thing every day" and just updating my blog probably once a week. Apparently I don't have time to blog with my busy engineers schedule. So sorry all you faithful blog readers (my family) you'll just have to cope with my once a week blog entries. No need for crying. I'll be back soon...

I do have to say a few words about this weekend though. After a long hard week full of homework and studying, I decided to take the entire saturday off and devote it to Snowboarding!!! Last semester I bought a season pass to Beaver Mountain, and I finally got to use it on Saturday! I literally boarded for 11 hours straight! From 9am to 9pm, with about an hour for dinner. It was AMAZING!! I think Beaver is my new favorite resort. There was so much powder!! I went with Emily and some people in her ward. They are all really good and I was surprised that I was able to keep up with them.

Toward the end of the day, I got a little braver. I went off jumps and wove in and out of the trees. And those of you who know me, i've never been able to do that as well as I did on Saturday. It was the best feeling in the word! Four o'clock hit and everyone except me went home because OUR WARD RENTED OUT THE ENTIRE PLACE FOR NIGHT SKIING!!!! I had never gone before and it was a blast! It's really different snowboarding at night. It's such a rush of adrenaline! I fell many many times and am still sore two days later. But I wouldn't have traded it for anything else! Saturday was so incredibly fun!!
Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-66327358116958251262009-01-02T15:30:00.000-08:002009-01-04T19:44:29.565-08:00#123 12/18/08 Recitals and more recitals!!Today was an awesome day! First off, Nate came and visited me and met my family. His grandma lives in Provo and he didn't have to be with his family till later, so he came up to South Jordan and said hello. I felt bad for him because I had to run errands for my mom. I first took him to Anna's piano recital at her teacher's house. That was kind of weird. We didn't stay long because we had to run to the middle school to watch Madelyn's violin concert. It wasn't just her orchestra, but the 7th, 8th and 9th grade orchestras as well. It wasn't the most fun I've had in all my life, but it still was fun! She even played the christmas prelude music for everyone. After that was over, we dropped the girls off and went to target to buy green raquetballs. Seems like an easy task right? Wrong! I had been looking everywhere for the green ones because those are the ones my dad played with. I bought them for my dad for Christmas. It was really nice of Nate to drive up from Provo to see me. oh yeah. I also bought my first Arby's gift card for his Christmas present!Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-157271057856889622009-01-02T15:20:00.000-08:002009-01-02T15:27:02.153-08:00#121 12/16/08 The Lavender House
My mom loves Santa figurines. She buys a new one every year. She also loves to decorate our house with many lovely things. While we were running errands, we stopped to look in this new store, The Lavender House. This place has mom's written all over it. Very cute and it has whatever you need for your house decorating desires. Being that time of the year, this little shop had some Christmas decor out and of course, lots of Santas. My mom of course wanted one of them, so I bought a Santa statue at The Lavender House for my mom. She loves it, and even made a place for it to fit with the other 40 santas she has.

Note: The santa pictured looks nothing like the one I bought her...
Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-52126286364125889092009-01-02T15:15:00.000-08:002009-01-02T15:20:04.759-08:00#120 12/15/08 Snowboarding for 17 bucks!!Earlier in the semester, I took Nate to see the Warren Miller Film, "Children of Winter". 17 dollars per person. But we got a free Canyon's lift ticket to use this week. Since Nate lives in Vernal and has no idea how to snowboard, I decided to take my dad with my extra ticket. So this morning, we went skiing/snowboarding at Canyons for 17 bucks each! Well worth the money, even though there were only 5 runs open at the time, and it was freezing cold. So it's a good thing it was only 17 instead of the regular 50 or something like that! Well right now, she actually is in a trio, so she has 2 companions. One of which, Sister Andersen, came home a couple days ago. So today my family went to my sister's companion's homecoming in Daybreak. It was so crazy to meet someone who met my sister in England! She is a super cute girl and I could tell her and Megan got along really well. Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5072956329456903609.post-2984210638091151892009-01-02T14:16:00.000-08:002009-01-02T14:35:11.061-08:00#118 12/13/08 John Schmidt has a sense of humor!!It's not too hard to guess what my new thing today was. My mom, my little sisters and I all went to the John Schmidt Christmas Concert. When my mom told me she got tickets to it, I didn't think it would be fun. I actually thought I would fall asleep in it. But boy was I wrong. The music group Noteworthy opened the show. This group consists of 9 AMAZING SINGERS from BYU, all girls. They have one girl that did beat boxing, one soloist, and the others just harmonize and make the song their own. Seriously, these girls have outstanding talent!! Go here to see them performing:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tkNZpO6QQ4 Or check out their website noteworthyladies.com
After Noteworthy, John started it off by playing a song with two hip hop dancers intrigue me with their talent. It was probably the coolest/weirdest thing I've ever seen! After that number, I was hooked. John was/is a really down to earth guy, and a comedian too. During transition from one song to the next, he would either tell a joke or a story that made everyone laugh. He's such a goof ball, but also a brilliant musician. Right before intermission, he called his sons out on stage and they all threw out little souvenir balls like they do at a basketball game. He also had his dad come out and do a little stand up comedy for us. It was such an excellent show. I suggested to my mom that we make it a Christmas tradition. So next year at this time, you'll know where I'll be: JOHN SCHMIDT CHRISTMAS CONCERT!!
Mrs. Jacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09714284785810230588noreply@blogger.com0
